Download and install. Unzip the file and drag VeriCap to your Applications folder. Double-click to open.
  2. 2
Grant permissions. macOS will ask for Screen Recording and Microphone access. Both are required — Screen Recording lets VeriCap capture system audio.
  3. 3
Create an account. Sign up with your email. Your 3-day free trial starts immediately.
  4. 4
Click Start. Play any media — a podcast, YouTube video, news stream, debate — and watch verdicts appear in the feed panel.

How it works

Audio captureVeriCap captures system audio directly — whatever your Mac is playing. It works even with volume muted or headphones plugged in. Audio is transcribed in 15-second chunks.
Claim extractionAn AI agent analyzes each transcript chunk and decides which statements are checkable factual claims. Opinions, jokes, and common knowledge are skipped.
Fact verificationEach claim is verified against the live web. Verdicts include a confidence score, reasoning, and links to the actual sources used.
VerdictsSupported (true), Unsupported (false), Mixed (partially true), or Unknown. Each verdict appears in the feed panel with full citations you can click to verify yourself.

Troubleshooting

macOS says the app is damagedRight-click the app → Open → click Open in the dialog. Or run in Terminal: xattr -cr /Applications/VeriCap.app
No verdicts appearingMake sure Screen Recording permission is granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security. VeriCap needs this for system audio capture.
Can't click through the overlayThe overlay is click-through by default. Only the pill and feed panel intercept clicks. Use ⌘⇧A to hide VeriCap entirely if needed.
